10 Awesome Restaurants in Las Vegas

Dining in Las Vegas used to mean free, yet lousy buffet fare. Today, Las Vegas is a bastion of celebrity chefs and incredible dining experiences. There are literally hundreds of restaurants in Sin City, but not all of them are what I would consider "fine dining." Step away from those massive free buffet tables and get yourself some exceptional cuisine. Here are my top ten picks. Bouchon Bistro at the Venetian continues to win awards for their delectable breakfasts. With options such as their Bouchon French Toast, a bread pudding with layers of brioche, custard and apples, can you think of a better way to start a new day?

Sage is all the rage these days and it's easy to understand why. Chef Shawn McClain focuses on simple, clean flavors and seasonal ingredients to tempt your taste buds. Located at the Aria Resort and Casino, I highly recommend the Vancouver Island Kusshi Oysters with Piquillo Pepper and Tobasco sorbet for starters. Leave room for one of Lura Poland's dreamy deserts like Sticky Toffee Pudding. Talk about comfort food!

Julian Serrano's at Aria is the place to go for incredible tapas. Whether for lunch or a late night snack, these simple Spanish dishes are tasty and artfully served. I adored the Marinated Garlic Chicken and Mushroom Skewer served with chilindron : a basic Spanish tomato sauce. My dinner partner let me sample a taste of his Tuna Tiradito, which is a mild, thinly sliced fish with ahi tuna, ponzu sauce, seaweed and rocoto pepper sauce. Fabulous!

L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon

If you've just won big, really big, then treat yourself to a culinary splurge at the pricey but delicious new venue of France's "Chef of the Century," Joel Robuchon. This three star Michelin restaurant serves exquisite French cuisine and even offers counter service where you can watch your dinner being created right before your very eyes.

Wing Lei

If you're in the mood for Chinese, look no further than the elegant Wing Lei at Wynn, where Chef Richard Chen serves up an Asian banquet with his five-course Imperial Peking Duck Tasting. For $88.00 per person, you can savor his table-carved Peking Duck, Peking Duck Salad, Duck Wonton Soup, and Wok Fried Duck with Asian vegetables all finished by a delicate dessert.

Picasso

Julian Serrano is also the chef behind Bellagio's delightful Picasso restaurant. Be sure to reserve a window table so that you can enjoy the fabulous dancing fountains of Bellagio while surrounded by Picasso's masterful artwork, rumored to be valued at over $50 million. The menu changes nightly to ensure only the freshest ingredients. My dinner of lamb roti was cooked to tender perfection and crusted with truffles. Anything Chef Serrano presents is an adventure in dining and his staff serves it with precision.

Michael Mina

Boasting "contemporary seafood and refined American cuisine uniquely prepared using seasonal products and produce," Michael Mina's Bellagio Restaurant offers numerous dining tastings. Choose from a Vegetarian Tasting, a Pre Theatre menu, a Cookbook Tasting or choose from the a la carte menu. It's all good!

Alize

One of the most spectacular views of the Strip is served up at Alize at the Top of the Palms. For starters, I was delighted by the Maine lobster salad with truffles, beluga lentils, caramelized oranges and drizzled with Yuzu Vinaigrette. For a main course, indulge yourself in one of their award winning entrees such as the grilled Prime Angus Rib eye served with Gruyere and parmesan potato gratin and butter braised asparagus with a Bordeaux reduction. Open seven days a week for dinner only.

Twist

Twist, by acclaimed chef, Pierre Gagnaire, is located high on the 23rd floor of the Mandarine Oriental Hotel in Las Vegas. Gagnaire's French cuisine takes on a modern twist at this brilliantly decorated venue overlooking the city lights. Savor the fusion of flavors in all of his creations. I felt I had died and gone to heaven after indulging in the Stewed Maine lobster with Chicken Dashi, peach, yellow carrots and purple potatoes with seaweed butter, verbena/lemon grass infusion hibiscus gelee and Thai grapefruit salad.
