Where to Propose in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is the only city in the US that makes you feel out of this world, and the perfect place to pop the question. Here are some great ideas for a unique and romantic proposal in Vegas!
Sometimes it can be difficult to find the romantic side of Las Vegas in the midst of the quickie wedding chapels, with their drive-through services and Elvis impersonators. Luckily, for the true romantic who wants to do things the old-fashioned way, there are some magical places in Las Vegas to propose. Any one of these five lovely locations will be sure to dazzle, leading to a quickened pulse, a spark of true romance, and most importantly, a "yes."
High Above the City Lights
Show your sweetheart the heights your future together will reach by taking her far above the city. The Stratosphere Tower is the tallest free-standing observation tower in the US, and the breathtaking view from the almost-dizzying height will make you feel like the only two people in the world. Start with a sumptuous dinner at the Top of the World, a revolving gourmet restaurant on the 106th floor, and finish it off with one of their signature desserts (like Belgian Chocolate Mousse). Just when she thinks it can't get any more romantic, whisk her to the observation deck and make your proposal. You'll both feel literally on top of the world.

In a Tropical Island Paradise
Like an oasis in the middle of the desert, the Tropicana Hotel recreates a lush island setting with palm trees, exotic foliage, a five acre pool, and even tropical wildlife. The only hard part is deciding which exact spot to pick to pop the question. My vote goes to any one of the waterfalls, where you can stand in front of the cascading water with nearby flamingos, swans and parrots. While you're there in the midst of the tropical splendor, tell your intended that you'd love to go to the real version for your honeymoon. Before she can completely register the surprise, ask her to marry you. You can follow with a Hawaiian-themed dinner or drinks.

After a Day in Paris, France
The miniature version of the Parisian City of Lights enables you to propose in Europe without leaving the country. Make a day of it by walking the cobblestone pathways amid the wrought iron street lamps to visit replicas of the Louvre, the Paris Opera and the Arc de Triomphe. Stop for a baguette and cheese to snack on, and don't forget the wine. There's only one ultimate destination to propose here: the top of the Eiffel Tower. Between the wine, the atmosphere and all the French je ne sais quois, you are almost guaranteed a positive response.

During a Venetian Gondola Ride
If Italy is more to your liking than France, you're in for a very romantic treat. The splendor of Venice is captured (with a splash of Vegas glitz) at the Venetian, where even the lobby has painted frescoes framed in real gold, Italian columns, and marble floors. One of the five Guggenheim museums is here, so you can see world-class works of art that are almost as beautiful as your loved one. The clincher, though, is the gondola ride down the Vegas version of Venice's Grand Canal. Propose just as you sail under the Rialto Bridge. Bonus: the gondolas sail right up to the Canal Shoppes, so if you really want to impress (and have money to spend) you can pick out a ring at the famous Mikimoto.

On a Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride in the Snow
Surprise your loved one by whisking her outside of the city limits to Mt. Charleston. The dense pine-covered mountaintop is a refreshing change from the bustle of Vegas, and it's less than an hour away. Stay at the Mount Charleston Lodge, where you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride with a beautiful ending: your proposal. Imagine taking this trip in the winter, when the ground is glistening with snow. Stay overnight in one of the cozy cabins, which each have a fireplace, and toast your marriage-to-be with cocoa and marshmallows. Could anything be sweeter?

While these five are some of the best options, they're certainly not the only ones. Customize your setting to your sweetheart's interests. If she loves adventure, try the edge of the volcano at the Mirage. An animal lover might appreciate the memory of an engagement at the MGM Grand's lion habitat. What about a medieval fantasy at Excalibur? In Vegas, you're only limited by your imagination. Your perfect proposal spot is here, no matter what your dream is. Be brave, choose wisely, and most of all: be romantic.
